Cyclones
East Bay's premier Travel Baseball Program

The East Bay Cyclones are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing travel baseball opportunities in the San Francisco East Bay area. We serve kids from Richmond, El Cerrito, Kensington, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland, and run teams at the following age groups: 14U, 13U, 12U, 11U, and 10U. We also operate the East Bay Barons, a summer and fall ball program for local high school players.

At its core, the East Bay Cyclones is an organization devoted to player development to build the skills, experience, and character needed to play at the high school level and beyond. We are focused on fundamentals of the game and teach the work ethic required to succeed not just in baseball but in life.

We are also proud to be the home of the East Bay Hurricanes, a new 11U all-girls baseball team. The Hurricanes provide girls ages 9-11 with an opportunity to develop baseball skills through competition, including the Baseball For All regional and national tournaments. Experience in a baseball or softball live pitch environment is recommended.

Coaching & Player Development

Each age group (9-10u,11u, 12u, 14u) is led by a dedicated coach. Our coaches are drawn from local high school programs, and have played at the college and minor league level. Assistant coaches with high school and college playing experience contribute to rigorous player development.

In addition to the team coaches, the Cyclones have dedicated pitching, catching and hitting coaches that work with all age group groups. Cyclones players frequently have the opportunity to train with Cal Berkeley team alumni and staff at Evans Field.

Cyclones team members also have access to individualized, 1:1 coaching sessions to fine tune specific skill sets and dramatically improve their game.

Team Formation

The Cyclones are a no tryout program, no cut program. We welcome players committed to improving their baseball skills. The only requirement to join the Cyclones program are a love of the game and a commitment to work hard.  Players are grouped by age and practice with their age group peers.  For age groups with multiple teams, we evaluate our players on a regular basis. Travel tournament teams are formed from each age group based on skill level and work ethic, and players have the opportunity to move up commensurate with their development.

Spring & Summer Season

Our spring and summer season runs from February through July. We operate contemporaneously with our local little leagues. Teams practice once per week, attend pitching, catching, and hitting sessions, and play one tournament per month from February through May (ages 11U and above). Starting in June, all teams practice 3-4 times per week, play numerous tournaments and prepare for a summer travel experience (ages 11U and above).

Summer Travel Experience

Beyond regular summer tournaments in northern California, participate in age group specific experiences that will last a life time. The major summer travel experience is focused on our 12U program who travel to Cooperstown NY for a week of play at Cooperstown Dreams Park. Our 13-14U program travels to Southern California for a week long tournament in San Diego while our 11U program  aims for a 4 day, overnight tournament. Our 9Us and 10Us generally attend one overnight tournament during the season.

Fall & Winter
Seasons

Our fall season runs from August through mid-November. Teams practice 2-3 times per week. Additionally, there are weekly pitcher and catcher sessions, hitting sessions, and other specialized training. All teams try to play 4-5 tournaments over the course of the fall.

The Winter season (December and January) is for the 12u and older age groups. We run strength and conditioning programs along with dedicated hitting sessions to prepare for the upcoming Spring season.

Scholarships and Fundraising

The Cyclones do not turn away players based on inability to pay program or tournament costs and offer financial aid to ensure kids with a love of baseball have the opportunity to play. The Cyclones carry out annual fundraising activities to support program costs and provide scholarships for our summer travel experiences. As a 503c-1 Non-profit organization, contributions to the East Bay Cyclones are tax deductible and can coordinated with the treasurer of each age group.

We graciously accept general donations which can be sent to:
